Spectrum Skyworks was formed in 1992 in response to the building boom in the early nineties and the subsequent demand for skylights to take advantage of natural lighting.

Architects demanded custom shaped barrel vaults, custom colored frame work, and different types of glass. Up to this point in time most skylight companies were offering rideau brown or white T-bar skylights with clear or bronzed glass … that was it.

As the decade progressed architects have demanded even more colour in the framework, more interesting profiles to hold the glass in position, larger pieces of heavy plate glass, and free-hanging canopies. Today almost every skylight requires an engineering seal of approval and a professionally prepared shop drawing.
